A Space for Imagination
In this project I took the opportunity to look at the issues of exploring both a child’s and an adult’s imagination. I was interested in this concept, because often times there is this notion that imagination is only an idea rather than a reality. The space on the outside is a real habitat for visitors to come enjoy, interact with, draw on the walls and view its beautiful surroundings near the playground of Madison Square Park from the rooftop walkway and large interior picture windows. The closed off inner room takes the visitor directly into their imagination and allows them to further explore their creativity. With large projections playing constantly on both the walls and ceiling of children’s books illustrators, new ideas and imagery will be provoked. This central space is the perfect getaway spot from the outside world that takes its guests to a completely different world.
